Pottstown Middle School eighth grade student Ty Wolfel has aspirations of being a nationally recognized sports broadcaster. To fulfill his dream, during the first semester of school he took part in the Pottstown Middle School Career Shadowing Program and participated in sports broadcasting events through PCTV. Ty was fortunate to work with PCTV/Comcast Cable sports announcer Mr. Bernie Gallagher who is also a teacher at Pottstown Middle School. Ty was in the TV booth for many broadcasts of local football games and assisted Mr. Gallagher during the broadcast. He compiled statistics, helped with slow motion instant replay, and reverse angle camera shots. According to Mr. Gallagher, “Ty did a fabulous job helping our crew and brought positive energy to our weekly TV shows. He is a natural and the quintessential sports fan.”
Ty expressed, “My experience with Mr. Gallagher and PCTV Sports has helped me understand the behind the scenes activity that goes into a sport’s broadcast. I look forward to learning more and pursuing a career in sports broadcasting.”
