Letter from the Principal 2011-2012 School Year Letter from the Principal It is with great pride that I welcome my 6th group of new 6th graders to our school and look forward to seeing all of our returning 7th and 8th graders. I believe that there is the possibility of providing our students the best school experience that they have had and also memories that will last their lifetimes. The middle school years are a time of rapid growth and change. Students of this age are experimenting for the first time with independence; this includes actions, ideas and opinions. They can sometimes seem like alien visitors in our own homes. But, at school we understand and remember the challenges of getting through this roller coaster of an age. Learning to make good decisions when empowered with independence is a difficult lesson. And, we are here to help. We do this by establishing a set of boundaries and guidelines to help direct your students’ actions toward safety and success. While teaching our students to read and preparing them for higher level math courses, we also teach them to think about the world around them. The science and technology that is available to them, as well as the ideas and lessons learned from history, all contribute to the development of a thoughtful young adult. We will ask them to read the ideas of others and study information all Americans with a public school education should know. We want them to learn how to become an effective student while learning about the adult opportunities that most appeal to them. Your If I can do anything to help your child have a more positive middle school experience I hope that you will call or stop into the school office to see me. Your child’s success is also our success. Mrs. Gail M. Cooper | |||||||||||||
