The Pottstown School District conducted its annual elementary writing contest sponsored by the local McDonald’s Restaurants. Students from kindergarten through fifth grade competed in the annual essay contest, which this year had as its theme “Friendship.” The students had opportunity to express their feelings and emotions by defining what friendship meant to them.
Bruce and Marsha Graham, the owners of the local McDonald’s Restaurants, are longtime supporters of public education and sponsored not only the writing contest, but a number of award programs recognizing academic achievement. This year’s award winners were invited to a special ceremony held at the High Street McDonald’s Restaurant where they received certificates and
T-shirt recognizing their writing achievements. All of their writings were also published in the annual Pottstown School District McDonald’s Writing Award booklet. Of course, no ceremony at McDonald’s would be complete without a “Happy Meal,” which was provided through the generosity of the Grahams. Award winners this year included:
